A quote that inspires me

"Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly."-Langston Hughes.  This quote inspires me because I have had some set backs in life and have had to work very hard to achieve what I have done.  I was a teenage parent, my son was born during my sophomore year of high school.  When I told the school I was pregnant they made me go to an alternative school because "I was a distraction to other students."  Although, I was in IB classes and was on the high honors list they still made me leave during my pregnancy.  I thought my life was over.  During my time at the alternative school, I learned a lot about my peers struggling with pregnancy, abusive home lives, drugs and alcohol.  Going to the alternative school, gave me so much more drive to finish high school at the top of my class, go onto college and start a career.  I did graduate high school with the 3rd highest GPA in my class and moved here to Rochester and started my college education.  During my time here, I married my best friend and had our second child, which was kind of a set back for my education.  However, I am still going and plan to be in the nursing program in the fall.  This quote explains the ups and downs of my life and I feel strongly that if we don't follow our dreams we will never know what we are capable of or what we are meant to do.
